Ethos Live

EthosLive! is a public access television project where Ethos students broadcast musical performances live from our recital hall onto Comcast Cable channel 22.  Ethos students and families are free and welcome to come down and join the audience. The show goes live at 4pm for an hour.

A wide variety of musical acts have graced the Ethos recital hall stage. Freestyle hip hop, choirs, dancers, kid rock bands, and almost every musical genre you can think of.  All of it filmed and broadcast in realtime by a very talented crew of kids ranging in age from 8 to 16.  If you’d like to see some examples of their work you can check out youtube.com/ethosmusiccenteryoutube.com/ethoslive and  ethosmusiccenter.blip.tv.

If you’d like to perform on EthosLive! Send an email to Ethoslive@ethos.org and tell us about your music (preferably with links to MP3s or other audio), the sort of stage setup you’ll need for your performance, how long your set list runs and a little about yourselves as a band. We show a lot of favoritism towards underage performers, so if you’re too young to perform in most venues then this is a good opportunity to get some exposure for your music.  The waiting list to get on the show keeps getting longer, so please don’t be upset if months go by before you here from us.

Some important points about the show your band should know:
1) It’s LIVE at 4pm! Load in is at 3pm so don’t be late or you’ll risk a minimal sound check.
2) Be accurate about your band’s setup. We set the stage up with mics and DIs before you arrive so that performers just need to setup.  It saves a lot of time and makes the sound check less hectic.
3) We can’t pay for performances, as we have no budget. We can give you a DVD copy of the live feed transmission on the following Wednesday, assuming nothing went wrong.
4) You can’t be obscene or lewd on the show. It doesn’t need to be kiddie music but it should be able to play on the radio.
5) Adults must play original music. Only kids under 18 can play covers.
6) Don’t talk about money. We’re a non-profit broadcasting onto public access. You can mention where to find your CDs, your website or where you’re performing next, Just don’t try to sell stuff. Think of the difference between informing (good) and advertising (bad). If you never mention money, buying or selling then everything else is probably ok.
7) You can invite friends and family to come down and join the audience. We ask that you do not invite random people by posting flyers on telephone poles and such.

We’re located at 2N Killingsworth, but you’ll find the school is closed at 3pm. The side door to the recital hall is on Williams Ave before the bike rack.
