What Is Camp Creative? A Day and Overnight Arts and Expeditions Summer Camp. Our emphasis is on the arts and safe, exciting project themed active expeditions: We call it AIM – Arts In Motion – Bicycling – road and mountain Bike trip camp expeditions, hiking and backpacking trips, horseback pack trips, canoe, rafting and sail programs. Operated by American Camping Association standards.
Where is it based? While 100-150 campers will be on expeditions around the region, we are pleased to announce that the Day Camp’s home is now the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center located in North Portland. We are also actively looking for a permanent site in Oregon for the sleepaway camp, retreat and outdoor center. Anyone with property or camp facility opportunities for us please email Metal Cowboy
Who Can Come To Camp? Our day programs can provide for 250 kids, 5-18 yrs, with separate adult and family camp programs, expeditions and sessions. Really, everyone, who wants a project-based recreational experience is invited to attend. We’ll offer sliding scale tuitions and scholarships. 30 percent of our participants have received scholarship assistance but that number is only limited by applicants. We attract a diverse ethnic and socio-economic population from the NW with a portion of our camper slots available to kids, adults, and families throughout the United States.
What is the Project Based Approach to Recreation and Experiential Learning? On top of having fun, building friendships, being in the moment and learning new skills, we want campers to have a project based approach to life. Project-Based Education takes one theme and explores it from many angles – an inclusive approach to something. Each Cabin Group and Expedition Team will have a common set of daily activities: sports, meal prep, campfire, words on wheels mentorship’s, swimming and more.
