Tofer Towe
Director of Admissions, Drumset, Samba, Percussion, Rockband
As Director of Admissions, Tofer oversees all Private Lessons and Group Classes at Ethos’ headquarters. He is responsible for making things run smoothly for almost 500 students and 30+ instructors each week – including scheduling, room assignments and billing. Tofer also teaches private students, group classes and summer camps, and student rockbands. When teaching he emphasizes rhythmic fundamentals and popular beats, classic songs and note-reading.
Tofer has been playing drums since the age of 15. He has studied music and rhythm with teachers from around the country, including master vocalist Michael Stirling, percussionists Doug Smith, Derek Rieth and Brian Davis from Pink Martini, Brazilian Percussion Master Jorge Alabe and pedagogy with Mary Kogen of PSU. Tofer’s style is rooted in American and British Rock and Roll, but also includes Brazilian and Afro-Cuban studies. Tofer currently performs regularly with samba group The Lions of Batucada and rock band thebrotheregg.
