Studying classical piano from age eight, Steve Aman’s piano teacher also encouraged exploration of other styles including ragtime, pop, jazz and original composition. As a music student at Lewis and Clark College and PSU, his desire grew to pursue jazz, funk, Latin and other more improvisational styles. With much ensemble experience, he currently performs around Portland in a Brazilian/Latin combo as well as composes music for a Rock/Soul/Pop band. His lessons are able to provide the student with knowledge and ability in music theory, playing by ear, composition/songwriting, jazz theory and improvisation. Steve is also bilingual in Spanish and English.
