Michele Anderson
Community Engagement Director
Michele grew up in a small rural town near Northfield, Minnesota, and spent her early days recording hundreds of songs on her plastic tape recorder, practicing the piano and chasing fireflies in her backyard. She moved to Portland in 2000 and earned her BA in piano performance and composition at Lewis and Clark College where she studied with Orla McDonagh and Forrest Pierce. She worked with the Oregon Symphony’s Education department and taught at Forte Music School before joining Ethos in 2006. Besides playing piano and composing, Michele enjoys writing, road trips, lawn games, and spending time with her cat Glenn.
At Ethos, Michele handles Ethos’ Music Corps and Sound School Assembly programs, coordinates volunteers, assembles the e-newsletter, and oversees community events. She also teaches private and group piano lessons, and is working on her own piano curriculum complete with original compositions and artwork by herself and her students.
