Jedidiah Chavez

Executive Director

Jedidiah Chavez worked as Ethos’ Development Director from 2008-2011  and has significantly increased contributed revenue while also creating and sustaining relationships with Ethos’ families, staff, instructors, and Board of Directors.  He was a member of Ethos’ management team who successfully secured $1.5 million for capital improvements to Ethos’ North Portland headquarters and he was also instrumental in forming a partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service to place ten AmeriCorps members in small towns across Oregon.

Prior to his tenure with Ethos, Chavez worked as the Marketing and Major Gifts Officer for Equity Foundation. In this role, He managed a portfolio of donor advised funds and managed the media relations for the foundation. Most notably, he coordinated the Safe Schools Initiative, a statewide effort to reduce bullying and harassment in the Oregon public schools involving multiple government agencies, school districts, and stakeholders. He has also held senior-level positions in development and communications with the YMCA’s Jack, Will and Rob Center, Gertrude Press, and the University of Western States.

In addition to a background in nonprofit development, Chavez is also an arts educator who he has taught at the high school level and also lectured at numerous educational institutions including Whitman College and Purdue University. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Northern Colorado and a Masters in Fine Arts from Vermont College.  In 2004, he was selected as an Alexander Foundation Fellow and has received awards and grants from both the Regional Arts and Culture Council and Oregon Humanities.
