Eric Miller
Marimba
Eric has been playing marimba since 1996. His focus is on Zimbabwean Music. He joined Boka Marimba in 1997, his first professional band, and played with them for five years, eventually becoming lead singer and playing trumpet as well. He joined Thomas Mapfumo & The Blacks Unlimited in 2007 and has toured Europe and Australia. Eric also leads a youth band, Supadupa Marimba Bros that plays around the Portland area. He has studied with many Zimbabweans over the years and has travelled to Zimbabwe in 2005 to study mbira, a ‘thumb piano’ instrument that is the roots of marimba music. Eric also plays trumpet in MarchFourth Marching Band and leads the group, Pachi Pamwe.
