Eric Hickey

Preschool & Early Childhood, Hand Drums

Eric teaches with the belief that every individual is a musical being, capable of realizing great joy and satisfaction through the act of learning to play an instrument. Eric teaches all styles of guitar, bass, and percussion, as well as beginning and advanced classes on music theory and harmony.
Eric graduated from Kenyon College in 2003 with a degree in music, where he studied jazz guitar, percussion, and composition. Upon returning to his home of Philadelphia, Eric composed and played lead guitar for two groups, while also playing percussion and arranging for the Afro-Cuban/West African ensemble “Leana Song.” Throughout this period Eric taught group and individual lessons on guitar, bass, and hand drums, as well as introductory music classes to elementary school students.
In 2007 Eric moved to Portland, Oregon to study music therapy at Marylhurst University, where he will complete the program by the summer of 2009.
