Deidra Montgomery
Deidra Montgomery hails from New York and is a lover of all things music. Her primary instrument is trombone, though she discovered a love and talent for singing during her time at Amherst College. She was lucky enough to experience the benefits of growing up as a participant in music and believes strongly that everyone should have access to a strong arts-based education. Deidra graduated with a degree in music from Amherst College, where she participated in the orchestra, jazz ensemble, jazz combos, and the concert choir. Deidra enjoys community music making and looks forward to meeting new people with whom she can create and appreciate music. She believes that no student should ever be made to feel as though he or she cannot appreciate a certain kind of music because of his or her background. She also enjoys the challenge of finding different ways to teach and reinforce the same concepts, giving students several chances to latch on to material. She is inspired by seeing students progress in real time.
