Chaz Mortimer
On one hand Chaz Mortimer teaches Audio Production, Lyrics & Songwriting, and Beat Making, and on the other he teaches Marching Drum Corps, with an emphasis on Samba and New Orleans Second-Line. He grew up playing the drum set, so with his right foot he’s teaching drum set technique…with the left foot he is holding down the clave rhythm as he teaches congas, bata, and a variety of other percussion instruments! Put it all together, and we’re developing rhythmic music that is fun to learn and amazing to listen to. After running the Phoenix Studio full time at NE Portland’s Helensview School for 3 years, Chaz has joined Ethos as a Hip-Hop Educator and Drum & Percussion instructor. Along with film scoring, he produces and performs with a number of artists, and performs regularly with Okaidja and Shókoto Music.
