Amy Demps

Piano

Amy began harmonizing to Beatles songs at age 4, playing piano at age 7, flute at age 8, and singing (formally) at age 14.  She studied Music Education with a concentration in voice at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania where she earned her B.S in 2005. Shortly after graduating, Amy spent the next 5 years building a choral program and teaching middle school general music as well as giving private piano lessons.  In 2010, she moved to Portland to start her next chapter in order to get a new group of kids excited about music!

Amy believes that music serves people, including herself, in different ways and always for the better. For some, it is the physical challenge of learning an instrument that excites, not unlike like solving a puzzle.  For others, its all about how the music makes you feel inside. In her teaching and her own practice, she strives to find the perfect balance.  Her students are taught equally about both musical expression and music theory, resulting in well-rounded, appreciative musicians!
