Alan Singley

Alan Singley came to Ethos in 2006 fresh out of Portland Community College Cascade Campus’s Professional Music Program. Prior to that he had been writing, recording, arranging, conducting, and touring for ten years. He teaches ukulele, guitar, rock band, and autoharp. His students range from 5 to 18, with some adults. In addition to teaching lessons and classes at Ethos, Alan also teaches at a number of local schools as part of Ethos’ outreach program including Peninsula School, Boise-Eliot, and Humboldt Elementary. Alan ”draw[s] from many areas to create [his] teaching style but [has] one goal, which is Ethos’ goal- to provide a positive experience with music.” His favorite music to teach is that of The Beatles, The Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Woody Guthrie, Weezer, and “anything the students are interested in.” Alan describes Ethos as having a bright future and “look[s] forward to working with such a great team and community of amazing families.”
