Saraveza Meat Raffle for Ethos!

January 27, 2010

In Northern Wisconsin, it’s an old tradition for churches and bars to help raise money for those in need by means of a meat raffle.  Hunters and farmers donate meat to the charity and sometimes even a rifle.

Saraveza is hosting its 2nd Annual Meat Raffle (sans rifle) on February 7th during half time of the Superbowl. All proceeds are going to Ethos Music Center for kids.  Participants can win meat, gift certificates and schwag from Laurelhurst Market, Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats, Nicky USA and Saraveza.

Don’t eat the meat? Veggie raffle tickets are for the carnivores or for anyone who’d like to win a nice grill set, grilling aprons or lots of craft beer glassware, hats and other beer schwag.  Tickets can be purchased anytime at Saraveza from January 1st to February 7th. 1 for $1, 6 for $5 or 15 for $10.

Find out more about Saraveza here and check out their blog post for this event here.  Thank you Saraveza for your support!

Cover Your Hearts Benefit for Ethos

January 22, 2010

Due to the overwhelming success of Cover Your Hearts I & II, local shoegaze rockers Charmparticles have emerged from some time off to organize the highly anticipated third annual Cover Your Hearts benefit taking place on Friday February 12th & Saturday February 13th. After selling out the first two Cover Your Hearts and turning patrons away at the door, the Charmparticles/Someday Lounge team has decided to add a second show this year. Both evenings will continue with tradition, with local musicians covering some of their favorite and guiltiest love songs from the years 1980-1990.

Both shows will kick off at roughly 9pm at the Someday Lounge located at 125 NW 5th Av. These will be nights filled with lighters in the air, lipstick-stained wine glasses, and sore throats from belting out each and every sappy word.

100% of proceeds from tickets sales will go to support Ethos Music Center.
